Join us on this exciting winter forage led by avid mushroom hunter Justin Williams as we delve into the forest to learn all about the magical world of mushrooms! We will be meeting in the morning and start with an educational and informative talk about wild mushrooms, followed by an exploratory foray into the forest.

Participants will need to bring a basket, pocket/pen knife, rain coat (weather permitting) and outdoor-friendly shoes.

Cost: R550 per person

Included: A PDF recipe booklet plus a PDF mushroom foraging guide to the Western Cape (NEW!), a post-forage picnic of nourishing seasonal veg and wild mushroom soup with farm bread topped with aubergine and wild mushroom pate, winter greens and edible flowers, porchini dust chocolate brownies and a warming wild herbal tea.

Introductory half day forage and feasting experience


Aimed at adults but children are welcome to join their parents. Anyone who has an interest in gardening, in wild food, foraging or indigenous edibles. Chefs wanting to discover new ingredients or foodies wanting to play with the diverse wild flavours in our Indigenous edibles. People interested in Fynbos, in vegetable gardening, self sufficiency, in the Slow Food movement or those that just want to have a unique and delicious experience at a beautiful venue with like minded people.
Each course is different according to the season and availability in the gardens and the bush. Explore the gardens, discover and pick edible flowers,weeds and fresh organic vegetables. Forage for indigenous edibles, learn how to sustainably harvest them, utilize them in your kitchen, grow them in your garden and some of their medicinal properties. Learn about wild herbs and how to preserve and prepare them. After snacks and a gathering tour we will get creative in the foraging classroom kitchen and prepare and share a feast.

This half day course includes wild food snacks and drinks, a delicious three course lunch based on ingredients foraged, harvested and prepared by the group. You will also receive information notes and recipes on the plants that we will use in the meal.

Gumboots or comfortable walking shoes, raincoat/sun hat – suitable outdoor gear. Cameras are welcome. Don’t forget an open mind and your sense of humour!


You can also enjoy a 10% discount in the nursery retail should you wish to purchase any indigenous plants for your garden.

Surf play and wild flavor picnic for adults, led and facilitated by Erika, Veld and Sea resident marine ecologist and ISA certified surf coach and Gemma, our Veld and Sea wild chef!
Beginner to intermediate warm up and surf lesson, followed by a pre-foraged wild flavor picnic on the beach or by the fire at the Veld and Sea cabin, weather dependent.
Please bring your own surf kit, towel and warm clothing. If you require surfboard and/or wetsuit rental, please contact KomSurf Shop. Please book your surf equipment well in advance to ensure availability.
COST: R500 per person
VENUE: To be announced – Wind and wave dependent, it will be one of the gentle beach breaks of the Southern Peninsula.

12th and 13th of July

Kids holiday fun! Connecting kids back to nature with plant inspired arts and crafts, foraging and harvesting ingredients for cooking and tasting, stories, nature walks, yoga and allowing lots of time for playing.

Each day we will have a different elemental theme woven through the activities. Kids will engage with the outdoors through play, food, movement and crafts, and will leave with something special that they have created during the day.

A simple and healthy meal will be served which the kids will be involved with by helping to prepare, as well as refreshments of fruit and spring water. Packed lunch boxes are encouraged for picky eaters and food intolerances.

Thursday 12th July – “What flavour is the season?” Winter: Explore the differences in weather, light and plants, season dependent through story, games, yoga and a seasonal wild flavour meal.

Friday 13th July – “Hello Moon” : Explore our relationship to the sun and moon, how it determines our seasons and food through crafts, story, experiments and a seasonal based wild flavour meal.

 Friday the 27th of July 6.30pm – 9.30pm BOOK TICKETS

An evening of cultural fusion, wild botanical scents, indigenous ingredients and sensory surprises.

Veld and Sea chef Gemma Troy and Food Artist Stacey Leigh invite you to their full moon wild flavour / land and ocean foraged / bohemian – 7 course tasting journey at Veld and Sea’s unpredictable dinner table.

Arrival from 6.30pm for cocktails and canapés followed by a journey in flavours. The feast will lead up to a 9.30 finale and farewell toast.

Cost includes 1 x botanical cocktail accompanied by 2 canapés, 3 tapas style mains and 2 desserts.

This is a fun, informative and insightful astro workshops running over two Thursday mornings, which will introduce you to the basic understanding of the moon phases in astrology.

Focusing on elements and qualities and how they affect the emotional energy
Moon`s movement around your own chart helping you to understand the monthly rhythm more consciously.

Teacher: Anya Kotzuba is a qualified astrologer who studied at the Rod Suskin School of Astrology and received her diploma in Astrology in 2009.

She does birth chart readings, child readings, year readings and other specialised charts where she work from a practical life coaching approach that can give you the insight, inspiration and momentum to step into your power and work more consciously with your talents while also learning to recognise and work with the reactive patterns that may be holding you back.

“Reconnect with Medicinal Plants”

Facilitated by Zanele Bosch, Manual Therapist, Natural medicine practitioner and student of Bsc Manual Osteopathy and Dr of Botanical medicine.

A two day workshop that re-introduces us to our innate knowledge and connection with plants. The workshop can be joined by those aspiring to work with plants as medicine or those who wish to expand their knowledge in this subject. The programis divided into two half days; allowing enough time to connect, explore and to have hands on participation by preparing the medicinal remedies.

Memory is best awakened through action!

Day 1 “awaken your intuition”

Awaken your intuition

Through connecting with the plants, you will discover their medicinal properties and uses. The learning will happen through your intuition. During the herb walk you will do further self led discovery of the herbs and plants growing at the Good Hope Nursery gardens. This will also be a time for questions and answers and the facilitator will explain further about the medicinal properties of the plants you are curious about. Participants will gather their ingredients to use during the preparation of remedies time.

Day 2 “create with intention”

Creating with intention

In this day we introduce the “secret ingredient”, you learn about the different ways to prepare plant medicine and about which parts of the plant to use for the various preparations. You will re-visit the ingredients that you will be using to make an oil, a tincture, a balm/salve or cream and then, begin the practical work of making the herbal products.

Join wild food forager Roushana Gray, for an immersive 4 course dining experience, showcasing a delicious range of hyper local and seasonal flavours. Every interactive dish will be presented with a story behind it and each paired perfectly with a botanical cocktail. Guests will be led on a walk to discover cocktail garnishes, canapés and the first meal in and around the indigenous plant nursery and gardens before settling into an enchanted banquet of incredible edible wild flavours. Expect flower crowns and fairy lights and fynbos as the theme of the evening.

Dress: Comfortable shoes and floating florals, sequins and dungarees. Please bring a warm jacket or blanket.

Join Caitlin Hill, brand ambassador for The Botanist Gin and wild food forager Roushanna Gray on this exciting wild alchemy, botanical and floral food filled day.

We will start with a foraging master-class in the Veld and Sea classroom, followed by a walk where we will gather wild herbs and edible flowers to be used in the drinks. You will learn the basics of cocktail making – the ingredients, techniques and equipment plus a special introduction to gin as well as how to make two classic gin based cocktails. Discover the world of tincture making and create your own bitters and infusions. A light floral inspired lunch, cocktails and refreshments will be served. Leave with a herbal bouquet and your very own wild booze creations. Recipes and notes provided.

Saturday the 1st of September 10am-2pm BOOK TICKETS

WHAT TO EXPECT: Led by textile artist Andie Reeves, come and learn the basics of embroidery, from choosing threads and fabric, creating designs and learning different stitching techniques. Participants will receive a hoop and immerse in an afternoon of stitching your own unique flora-themed design. You will leave with your hoop as well as needle and thread to carry on your new hobby at home.

WHAT IS INCLUDED: We will supply all equipment including hoops, threads, needles and fabric. Tea, cake, botanical cocktails and canapés will be served though out the day.

As this is the first official day of SPRING we will be celebrating with flower crown creations on arrival.

TEACHER: Andie Reeves has a background in fashion having previously worked as a dressmaker, stylist, sewing teacher and fashion designer. Currently working as a writer/artist/preschool teacher, her art is being exhibited at The Raptor Room and Cavalli Gallery. She is interested in all forms of textile art, especially weaving, embroidery and sewing, and is passionate about teaching others these skills.

Sunday the 2nd of September 11am – 3pm BOOK TICKETS

Immerse yourself in the blooms and blossoms, the fynbos and foliage, the delightful and delicious – a complete floral experience held in and around the Veld and Sea cabin.


Join us celebrating spring with a day filled with flowers. We will begin with flower crown creations, wild flower tea and cakes with an introduction to a brief history of the flower crown. After an edible flower and foliage picking session, we will head back to the cabin for floral arrangements, a medicinal flower talk, botanical champagne cocktails and the preparing and sharing of a vibrant edible floral food feast.

A festive weekend for adventure goddesses filled with flowers, wild flavours, foraging, wild beauty rituals, picnics, yoga, ocean time, fire cooking, botanical cocktails, creating, and beautifully balanced with lots of time for play and rest, reading and relaxation.

Season dependent, we will adventure to the beach, forest, mountains, gardens or fynbos and discover the exciting new world of wild flavours Cape Town has on offer. Seaweeds, shellfish, wild mushrooms, fragrant aromatic wild herbs, edible flowers and weeds, medicinal plants, indigenous veg, seeds, roots and shoots – every season has something amazing on offer.

A private foraging experience is offered for up to nine people. Duration is around 3 hours and includes a welcome drink and wild flavoured snack, a foraging intro, a walk and talk and gathering session, a mini cooking class where you will create either a botanical cocktail or a dish which is part of a light seasonal inspired lunch/dinner.
